Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail

Experience the beautiful Ovens Valley by walking or cycling along the Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail. This is a disused railway line that has been sealed and converted into a walking and cycling track (click here for a history of the line).

The track extends south from Myrtleford to Bright, and north to Gapsted, Wangaratta and Beechworth. Easy gradients and wide curves make the track suitable for all ages. You will encounter interesting cuttings and bridges that hark back to the days of steam. Click here for map.

Myrtleford is mid point on the Rail Trail, making it the ideal location to centre your cycling adventure. You can start your Rail Trail experience here for a short family ride or get a group of friends together & ride to a local pub or winery for lunch and a great day out.  Myrtleford is even host to Bus-A-Bike for those who wish to ride one way.  You and your bikes can be chauffeured to your starting point or returned to your chosen destination.  For more information contact Bus-A-Bike on (03) 5752 2974 (based at Arderns Caravan Park Myrtleford)
